A Sorrento Ware beautifully designed Wooden Inlaid travelling inkwell designed as a row of books.
The book on top forms the hinged lid and one on the bottom the base. Sliding the spines of the 5 volumes slightly to the right allows the lid to lock and back to the left to unlock.
The interior is fitted with a tin inkwell holder with sprung catch, and would normally hold a small glass inkwell but this is not in situ.
The top of the inkwell is decorated with an inlaid bird on a drawn branch, and ink drawn detailing to books.
It measures: 5.08cm wide, 4.5cm high and 6.02cm deep approximately
It is in good overall condition no obvious damage just some minor scratches, one very small mark on the top and some age related wear- please see photos for your reference
